The Jersey Football Association's first Girls Football Festival for the 2008/09 season begins on Saturday.

Girls aged under 16 are invited to attend the event, which is at La Hague Manor in St Peter from 0930 BST.

The festivals will run monthly through the season, with the aim of forming enough girls teams to set up a league.

Organiser Kayleigh Alexandre said: "We have seen a vast improvement from when we started and had 10 girls attend - now we're getting between 120 and 150."
