Guernsey boss considers quitting

Steve Ogier
Ogier is considering quitting as Guernsey boss after five years

Guernsey's football manager Steve Ogier says he is considering whether to quit his role with the island side.

"I think that when I took the job I always thought that five years might be a good stretch of time to do it," he told BBC Guernsey.

"At the end of every season you ask yourself: Have you enjoyed it? Have you made a difference? Would you like to carry on?

"It's come to five years and I'm asking myself those questions now," he added.

Ogier saw his team slip to another Muratti defeat on Monday when they lost to Jersey on penalties.

Steve Ogier Career Facts:
He has only beaten Jersey once in a Muratti
He guided Guernsey to the FA's NLS Cup semi-finals
He was in charge of the side which lost 2-1 to Shetland in the 2005 Island games final
Ogier has only beaten the full Jersey team once in his tenure as island coach in the 2005 Muratti which was won on penalties after a replay.

He was also at the helm when Guernsey were upset by lowly Shetland in the 2005 Island Games final.

But he did guide Guernsey's Priaulx League side to victory over Jersey's Football Combination in the first round of the FA National League Systems Cup at Springfield at the beginning of this season.

That side went to the quarter-finals where they lost to the Amateur Football Combination on penalties in January 2008.

And two years earlier he lost out to Cambridgeshire in the semi-finals of the NLS Cup, again on penalties.

Ogier took over from Colin Fallaize as Guernsey manager after he had led them to the Island Games gold medal on home turf in 2003.
