Redknapp has denied the allegations levelled at him |
Harry Redknapp has dismissed allegations made against him by the BBC's Panorama programme as "farcical". The programme alleged that the Portsmouth boss had "tapped-up" Blackburn defender Andy Todd.
"I have no idea what I was doing in the programme," Redknapp told the BBC after Portsmouth training on Thursday.
"Anyone who saw the programme knew it was farcical. I've done nothing wrong, not a thing. I now just want to talk about football," said the Pompey boss.
"I don't think there is anything in it that I need to worry my lawyer about."
Redknapp was secretly filmed talking about Todd with agent Peter Harrison.
Redknapp's assistant at Portsmouth at the time of the filming, Kevin Bond, was secretly recorded admitting he would consider discussing receiving payments from a proposed new agency involving Harrison.
Bond also says he will discuss it with his then boss Redknapp.
Redknapp told the BBC that he had never taken a bung and had given Bond no reason to think otherwise.
When Bond was told of the filming he said that he was not interested in receiving bungs and that no-one he had ever worked with had taken a bung.
The current Newcastle assistant manager plans to sue the BBC for libel although the corporation insists comments made by Bond constitute an admission that he would take illegal payments from an agent.
Meanwhile, Redknapp pledged his support to Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, who was also the subject of allegations made in Tuesday's Panorama.
"I hope things will get sorted out for Sam," he said.
"He's a strong character and hopefully everything will be OK."
The film showed two agents claiming they paid bungs - illegal payments - to Allardyce.
The Bolton boss, who denies all allegations levelled at him, has asked his lawyers to take "appropriate" steps.
