Harrison did not have permission to talk to other clubs, say Boro

The BBC Panorama programme filmed Harrison offering Boro's player Nathan Porritt to Chelsea and Liverpool and he said he had held talks with Newcastle.

Boro chief executive Keith Lamb said: "We believe (Harrison) has not acted in the best interests of his client.

"He has certainly not had any regard for Middlesbrough Football Club."

Lamb added: "That is totally unacceptable to us and we have no option but to lodge a formal complaint."

But while Boro will make a complaint about Harrison, the club will not report Chelsea's Frank Arnesen to the FA or the Premier League.

Arnesen, Chelsea's head of development and scouting, was filmed by the undercover Panorama team telling discussing a �150,000 deal for Porritt, who at the time was 15 and who Boro had not given any club permission to speak to.

That is against FA and Premier League rules, but Boro chairman Steve Gibson told BBC Radio Five Live he felt it was a matter for Chelsea to deal with.

"I think Arnesen has broken the rules, but Chelsea shouldn't be held accountable," Gibson said.

"He should be held accountable by Chelsea as he's broken the rules."

Middlesbrough also confirmed that they will not be making a complaint against Liverpool or Newcastle.

Gibson also criticised Harrison's conduct for "touting" Porritt around to other clubs.

Asked if Harrison should be banned by the football authorities, Gibson replied: "Yes please".

Gibson added: "The problem lies with the agent who took our contracted player to many other Premiership clubs."

Lamb confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Harrison never sought permission from Boro to talk to other clubs about the teenager, who at the time was on schoolboy terms with his home-town club.

Liverpool representatives were also filmed by the Panorama team expressing an interest in Porritt.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool have denied breaking the rules in connection with their interest in Porritt, although neither club made comments on Wednesday.
