Hibs have completed the signing of Michael Stewart from Manchester United.

Stewart, 24, who played on loan with Hearts last season, has signed a one-year deal at Easter Road.

He told the club's website: "Tony Mowbray is a manager who is clearly going places and I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity."

Mowbray added: "I am confident we can provide Michael with the platform to achieve his full potential and be the player we know he can be."

Stewart's season was disrupted by injury last year, but Mowbray is confident he has signed a player of quality.

"I have long admired Michael having watched him as a young boy at Manchester United reserves," he added.

"He is a midfield player that can dictate the pace of the game with his passing ability.

"At Hibernian we play a style of football that I am sure will suit his game."

Stewart, who has three Scotland caps, joined United as a youth and had loan spells with Royal Antwerp and Nottingham Forest before his move to Tynecastle.
