The signs point to Kingsmeadow being AFC Wimbledon's home |
The trust behind AFC Wimbledon have voted to buy Kingstonian's ground as a new home for the breakaway club. The Dons Trust will need to raise 3m to buy Kingsmeadow, and spend a further 1m to bring it up to Nationwide League standard.
A meeting of Trust members voted overwhelmingly to proceed with the plan to buy the Ryman League club's ground.
The deal is subject to the Dons Trust board approving financial and legal issues.
AFC Wimbledon was formed by fans unhappy with Wimbledon FC's plans to re-locate to Milton Keynes.
The club, who currently lie second in the Combined Counties Premier Division, have been using Kingsmeadow as their temporary home.
AFC Wimbledon's decision to buy Kingstonian's ground will end any prospect of a return to the club's spiritual home in the Borough of Merton.
The club had initially planned to ground-share with Tooting & Mitcham.
