Nottinghamshire's director of cricket Mick Newell has revealed England pace bowler Ryan Sidebottom will miss the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old has been ruled out of the current one-day series against South Africa through injury.

Notts had hoped the left-armer would feature before the end of the season but he has been ordered to rest ahead of England's winter tours.

Sidebottom has suffered a combination of hip and groin problems since July.
