Winter is regarded as the UK's most successful surfer

Newquay's Russell Winter has cruised through to the third round of the Boardmasters at Fistral Beach.

Winter made the most of tricky conditions to win his second round clash with scores of 8.17 and 6.17 on his two waves.

Winter said: "I got those two waves right off the bat really and that first one that came was a nice size set."

Fellow Cornish surfer Reuben Ash has also made it through to the third round of the event.

Alan Stokes, Oli Adams and Josh Piper will look to join their Cornish compatriots in the third round today.
