Taylor has not played for England since July |
Sussex wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor has been named in the England academy squad for a training camp in India in April. Taylor, who has played four Test matches, was selected for the recent tour of Australia but opted to take a break from the international game. "I'm really excited about feel refreshed and ready to get back into my cricket," said the 21-year-old. "This is a great opportunity for me to get back into the England set up and hopefully set me up for a good season." After choosing not to join the national team down under, Taylor played domestic cricket in New Zealand with Wellington Blaze. Lancashire batter Arran Brindle, 29, who stepped away from international cricket in 2005 in order to start a family, has also been named in the squad. England women's high performance manager Paul Shaw said: "The camp aims to further develop current and potential future England players. "This will be the second year we have taken a group of academy players to India and I feel it is massively beneficial in their development towards being an England cricketer, or in some cases, their ongoing development as England players already." Susie Rowe, Danielle Wyatt and Fran Wilson, who were all part of the squad that toured Australia, will also make the trip to India.
England academy squad: Tamsin Beaumont (Kent), Arran Brindle (Lancashire), Deanna Cooper (Kent), Kate Cross (Lancashire), Jodie Dibble (Devon), Beth Langston (Essex), Beth MacGregor (Essex), Alice MacLeod (Berkshire), Raveena Lakhtaria (Middlesex), Susie Rowe (Kent), Helen Shipman (Warwickshire), Sarah Taylor (Sussex), Fran Wilson (Somerset), Danielle Wyatt (Staffordshire).
