England not an option for Brindle

Arran Brindle
Brindle is captain of the Louth men's team

Former England all-rounder Arran Brindle has said that she has no intention of returning to international duty in the foreseeable future.

The 27-year-old, who is captain of Louth men's first team, became a mother for the first time last year.

She told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I still enjoy playing very competitive cricket.

"The challenges that the men's game throws at me is enough and it means I don't have the travelling."

Brindle has said she is hoping to reintroduce a Lincolnshire women's county side, and is also helping to raise interest in a "Taster Day".

This is to be held on 5 July at Sleaford Cricket Club.

She said: "It's a case of trying to get together all the girls out there already playing and to see where we can go from there."
