Atapattu has played in 88 Test matches |
Former skipper Marvan Atapattu has been recalled to the Sri Lanka Test squad for the first time since December 2005 for the home series against Bangladesh. Left-arm seamer Sujeewa de Silva is back after five years and batsman Malinda Warnapura wins a first call-up.
Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara will return from county duty for the three-Test series.
Veteran opener Sanath Jayasuriya and leg-spinner Upul Chandana, 35, have been named only in the one-day squad.
The decision to rest Jayasuriya - who will cover for Muralitharan at Lancashire - from the Tests meant the selectors could bring back Atapattu.
Muralitharan and Vaas will both return to their English counties after the third Test.
The 36-year-old Atapattu was forced on the sidelines because of a back injury which required surgery but is now fit enough to add to his 88 Test caps.
He has played one-day cricket for Sri Lanka since the operation but was controversially left out of the World Cup squad.
Mahela Jayawardene retains the captaincy with Sangakkara his deputy while Sriyan Samaratne has been named squad manager.
Prasanna Jayawardene will keep wicket in the Tests to allow Sangakkara the chance to focus on his batting.
The Test series starts on 25 June in Colombo while the three-match one-day competition begins on 20 July.
