Nazir took six wickets in his two comeback Tests in England in 2006 |
Shahid Nazir captured five wickets as Pakistan drew their three-day tour game with the Rest of South Africa. The representative side resumed on 220-4, and not out batsmen Morne van Wyk and Arno Jacobs both reached three figures, extending their stand to 188.
Seamer Nazir, who returned to the team for the third Test in England last year after a seven-year Test exile, struck twice in two overs, Jacobs out for 143.
Having secured a first innings lead of 102, Pakistan then added a rapid 96-2.
Opener Mohammed Hafeez enjoyed some useful batting practice ahead of Thursday's first Test at Centurion Park, firing an unbeaten 48 from 56 balls, 28 of which came in boundaries.
He added 63 in less than 12 overs for the first wicket with left-hander Imran Farhat, but Yasir Hameed was trapped for a second ball duck by left-arm seamer Yusuf Abdullah, who finished with 2-21.
Nazir's chances of a place in the first Test were further increased when Umar Gul suffered an ankle injury that restricted him to a mere three overs.
Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq did not take the field on the final day because of a chest infection.
