Hameed tucks the ball away past keeper Denesh Ramdin |
Yasir Hameed celebrated his recall to Pakistan's Test squad with an innings of 92 for a Patron's XI against West Indies in Lahore. Hameed hit 12 fours and a six before he was caught behind, but Test discard Salman Butt made 106 before retiring.
The home side were 305-4 at stumps on the opening day of the two-day game.
"It was hard work for the fast bowlers because the wicket was conducive to batting," said West Indies vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan.
"But we have to make best use of this match because it's the only practice game ahead of the first Test."
West Indies went into the match without batsman Chris Gayle, the Man of the Tournament at the recent Champions Trophy in India.
He was unable to play because of an upset stomach and they also rested Shivanarine Chanderpaul and fast bowler Jerome Taylor.
There was a wicket each for Fidel Edwards, all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and left-arm wrist spinner Dave Mohammed, the latter accounting for Hameed as he attempted a square cut and edged to keeper Denesh Ramdin.
