Rana Naved: Not wanted by Pakistan for the home Test series |
Pakistan have dropped fast bowlers Mohammad Sami and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan plus all-rounder Shahid Afridi for three home Tests against West Indies. They have picked rookie fast bowler Samiullah Niazi while opener Yasir Hameed returns after a year's absence.
Another new face in the squad is the slow left-armer Abdur Rehman, who has never played for Pakistan before.
"Sometimes you've got to give young players a chance," chief selector Wasim Bari commented.
"They are good players, they have been selected on form. I'm very hopeful they will give a good performance."
Inzamam-ul-Haq will return as team captain. He has served three matches of a four-match one-day international ban, but it does not apply to Test cricket.
The first Test for Brian Lara's men is on 11 November. They play three Tests and five one-day internationals in all.
It is their first tour of Pakistan since 1997.
Pakistan are without bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, who have been banned from playing for testing positive for nandrolone.
