Injured Vettori missing for Kiwis
Daniel Vettori
Vettori has played 77 Tests and over 200 one-day internationals
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will miss this week's two Twenty20 internationals against England because of ankle injury suffered in training.

"He's been able to move a little bit more freely on it and he's coming along but not in time for the Twenty20s," said New Zealand boss Lindsay Crocker.

Vettori could also miss the first of five one-day internationals against England in Wellington next weekend.

Jeetan Patel has been called in to the squad for fellow spinner Vettori.

Wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum will take over as skipper.

The absence of 28-year-old left-armer Vettori, the most economical bowler in last year's ICC World Twenty20 Championships, will hit New Zealand hard.

They have already lost fast bowler Shane Bond, whose contract was terminated because of his links with the rebel Indian Cricket League.

New Zealand and England will play the Twenty20s at Auckland and Christchurch.

The teams will also play five one-dayers later in February and three Test matches in March.
