England Lions' hopes of securing a whitewash went on the penultimate ball as Pakistan A won the third Twenty20 clash by four wickets in Abu Dhabi.

Craig Kieswetter continued his fine form, making 50 off 32 balls as England's second-string reached 146-4.

Steve Kirby also impressed in taking 3-33, but Pakistan held their nerve to ensure the series finished 2-1.

The Lions will face their senior side in a Twenty20 on Wednesday before three 50 over matches against Pakistan A.

Kieswetter, who managed unbeaten scores of 77 and 40 in the previous games, continued to add to his tally after Pakistan A won the toss and put the Lions into bat.

The Somerset wicketkeeper smashed five fours and three sixes as he top-scored before being stumped by Naeem Anjum off Abdur Rehman.

Captain Andrew Gale also weighed in with an unbeaten 36 while Ian Bell made 17 as the Lions set their opponents a victory target of 147.

With Kirby and Steven Finn claiming the early wickets of Mohammad Hafeez (3) and Shahzaib Hasan (10) respectively, Pakistan A were struggling on 18-2.

But they soon recovered as Asad Shafiq managed 31 before succumbing to Adil Rashid, while Umair Khan (49) and Aamer Sajjad (23) looked to put them in the driving seat.

Kirby returned to the attack to break their 46-run fourth-wicket stand, claiming the wickets of both batsmen in successive overs.

Sajid Mahmood ran out Naeem Anjum (7) to leave Pakistan A needing six off the final over, but Tanvir Ahmed's boundary off Mahmood consigned the Lions to their first defeat on their tour of the United Arab Emirates.
