Patel has taken 11 wickets in 11 one-day internationals |
Nottinghamshire's Samit Patel is looking forward to being tested against international players if he is allowed to play in the Indian Premier League. Delhi Daredevils have shown an interest in the 24-year-old all rounder. Patel told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's a great opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world. "We've just got to wait for approval from the England Cricket Board - I won't do anything against the ECB as my main aim is to play for England still." Patel said he wanted to join the likes of Shane Warne and Glen McGrath who are set to play in the Indian Premier League this year. "It's good for us to learn about cricket, particularly young players like myself," he said. If he takes part, Patel would miss the start of the English domestic season. He would return in time for England's one-day internationals against the West Indies in late May.
