Flintoff coy on captaincy debate
Andrew Flintoff
Flintoff is eager to see Michael Vaughan's return
Andrew Flintoff has refused to be drawn on whether England should appoint separate captains for their Test and one-day teams.

There has been speculation that regular skipper Michael Vaughan might be urged to focus on Test cricket because of persistent knee problems.

But Flintoff, who has been leading the team in India, played down the possibility of a captaincy split.

"I don't want to get into that, it's just nothing to do with me," he said.

"Michael Vaughan's our captain and I'm looking forward to him coming back as soon as possible.

"At the moment all we're concentrating on is the games out here and as to other things that's not something I want to get into," he told BBC Five Live.

Flintoff did admit he has enjoyed filling in as tour captain on the sub-continent but expects Vaughan to take over again once he recovers from knee surgery.

We knew it was going to be tough but the other players have made it a lot easier for me

"It's been good fun but it would have been nice to do it under different circumstances," he said.

Flintoff thanked the other senior players in the England squad for their support.

"The lads have been good and everyone's rallied round. We knew it was going to be tough out here but the players have made it a lot easier than it could have been.

"People like (Andrew) Strauss, (Paul) Collingwood and (Steve) Harmison, when he was here, all offered good advice and made it an easy job to do."
