Vaughan's winter has been plagued by injury |
England captain Michael Vaughan will not be rushed back into action after knee surgery. The 31-year-old is unlikely to be ready for the start of the county season in a couple of weeks' time.
Yorkshire physiotherapist Scott McAllister said: "The only time schedule is how his knee responds.
"We're not going to push him and neither are England. It's vital he gets the knee right to ensure when he comes back, he does so with confidence."
England return from their gruelling tour of India on 16 April and have a small break before Sri Lanka arrive in May, with the first Test of the summer on the 11th.
David Graveney, chairman of selectors, said he had heard good vibes about Vaughan's recovery.

He added: "But I am aware we should not build up the hopes of everybody.
"He has had a good rest and the important thing is to take his time before he comes back."
More of a worry is spinner Ashley Giles, who admitted last week he was concerned his career could be over because he had still not been able to bowl since he had hip surgery in December.
Graveney said: "Ash seems a little bit more of a concern but it is more than keeping your fingers crossed."
On a brighter note, vice-captain Marcus Trescothick, who came home from India "for personal reasons" and bowler Simon Jones, who had to sit out the tour because of injury, are both hopeful of starting the season.
"It appears Marcus is looking to get involved with Somerset at the start of the season, as is Simon Jones (with Glamorgan), so that is positive news," added Graveney.
"I am sure with our medical staff they will all be available at some stage in the summer."
