Marsh, who is responsible for shaping current and future bowling talent in England, said: "You need 10 fast bowlers to be a successful nation.

"We're getting pretty close to 10. And they are looking like the best group of fast bowlers in the world."

England's pace attack is spearheaded by Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard.

But Marsh is shaping future talent at the academy in Loughborough, among them Gloucestershire's Jon Lewis, David Stiff from Kent and Lancastrian Sajid Mahmood.

In a bid to mould their abilities, he is aiming to give the youngsters additional responsibility.

That starts with giving them 11 hours free time a week.

"I don't really care if they want to go down the corridor and have a sleep, I don't really care what they do in that time because what we're trying to do is make them more accountable and responsible," stressed Marsh.
