| Ganguly warns England ![]() Agarkar scored his debut ton at Lord's England (487 & 301-6 dec) beat India (221 & 397) by 170 runs India captain Sourav Ganguly has warned England there is a lot more cricket left this summer. India slumped to a 170-run defeat in the first Test at Lord's on Monday but Ganguly was not too disheartened after a brave batting display by Ajit Agarkar. Agarkar defied his previous Test form to score a century, frustrating England's bowlers in the process.
Ganguly: "We batted pretty well today but England had better discipline in the first three days and deserved to win. "We had our chances but Nasser and his boys played well under pressure. "All touring sides have problems with the first Test when they travel abroad but we can take positive things from this game. "There's a lot of cricket left in this series." Two spinners Ganguly was criticised at the start of the match for leaving out spinner Harbhajan Singh. He said after the defeat: "It is always difficult for a captain to pick one but I probably should have played two spinners." The second Test match begins on 8 August at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. |
