Ryan Harris has played two Tests for Australia

Yorkshire will rest overseas signing Ryan Harris until the end of May at the request of Cricket Australia.

The Tykes' hopes were raised of having the Queenslander a month early after he was surprisingly omitted from Australia's World Twenty20 squad.

However, a statement on the Yorkshire website read: "Ryan has been asked to rest before Australia's summer tour."

New Zealand fast bowler Daryl Tuffey was lined up to cover Harris but broke a finger playing for his country.

Harris made his one-day international debut in January and after impressing joined Australia for their tour of New Zealand.
