Call-up for Yorkshire youngsters

Tim Bresnan
All-rounder Bresnan has played five one-day internationals for England

Yorkshire all-rounder Tim Bresnan and leg-spinner Adil Rashid have been named in the England Performance Programme squad to tour India this winter.

Bresnan, 23, who has played one-day and Twenty20 cricket for England, said he was satisfied with his season's form.

"My bowling has been my strength this year," he told the England and Wales Cricket Board website. "My batting has been a bit hit and miss.

"I think the Twenty20 disrupted my rhythm a bit. I was trying to slog it."

Twenty-year-old Rashid took 65 first-class wickets and finished the season with a century against Sussex at Hove as Yorkshire avoided relegation from the County Championship's top division.

Both players will fly out to India at the end of November and will be considered as back-up players to the main England touring party.
