Worcestershire coach Steve Rhodes hails Kapil's debut
Kapil made 44 on his one-day debut for Worcestershire
Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes has praised 17-year-old Aneesh Kapil for his mature showing in his CB40 debut against Yorkshire.
Kapil hit 44 as Worcestershire posted 155-9, a total which Yorkshire reached with almost four overs to spare.
Rhodes told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "His performance was exceptional for a youngster as he showed composure and class with the bat.
"It didn't surprise me because he is a terrific young cricketer."
The youngster shared a partnership of 88 with James Cameron, and although Yorkshire barely had to get out of second gear to register a seven-wicket win, Rhodes felt the defeat should not detract from Kapil's showing.
As long as he is up with his revision there might be a chance of him being released for the odd game for us

"He did well in the field for a youngster but he is quite an athletic lad," said Rhodes, with Kapil also bowling five overs for 21 runs.
"With the ball he bowled very straight with a little bit of zip while he used his brain to bowl some cutters as well for the wicket.
"Overall it was excellent and he can be very pleased with his debut," the Worcestershire coach added.
And with the side struggling in the County Championship this season, Rhodes admitted Kapil could be involved in the four-day side at some stage.
"He's got his A levels but we will look into it when he is free," said Rhodes.
"As long as he is up with his revision there might be a chance of him being released for the odd game for us.
"But to take him away for a four-day game in the middle of his revision [is a big ask].
"We'll have to check when his exams are but I know what you are saying as he is an exciting talent but there is plenty of cricket left in the season after his A levels."
