Duckworth's Worcester have been promoted back to the Premiership |
Worcester Warriors chairman Cecil Duckworth has called for a review of the structure of the top two divisions in the domestic game. Both the Premiership and the Championship currently consist of 12 clubs each. Duckworth told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "The Championship format is totally wrong. "It should be changed and we should have 14 teams in the Premiership and 14 teams in the Championship." Duckworth's comments after Worcester won promotion back to the Premiership a year after being relegated from the top flight. "There are a few bigger rugby men than me who are saying the same thing," he added. "Ian McGeechan is saying there should be 14 teams in the Premiership. We should have a moratorium on promotion and relegation. "When people like him are saying this kind of thing then I think the RFU and PRL have really got to listen."
