Shakib has played 21 Tests and 102 one-day internationals for Bangladesh
Worcestershire have re-signed Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for their FP t20 campaign.
The 23-year-old took 35 wickets in eight County Championship matches for the county in 2010, helping them win promotion to Division One.
"We all saw what he can do last year," director of cricket Steve Rhodes told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"His Bangladesh commitments mean he can only stay for a short time, but expect fireworks in the middle of the season."
Shakib is the third overseas signing that Worcestershire have made in the past week, following the acquisitions of Australian all-rounder Damien Wright and Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.
Wright will line up in the first part of the season, with Ajmal arriving for the second half of the summer. All three men will be available for at least part of the FP t20, a competition in which counties are allowed to field two overseas players.
"The recent signings will give experience throughout the summer and I can see this being a real asset to the development of a young squad, " added Rhodes.
Shakib, the first Bangladeshi to play county cricket, said: "My first season in county cricket has made me a better professional and hopefully, a better player.
"I have realised how important a role the Championship plays in the development of cricketers."
The deal is subject to Shakib receiving a No Objection Certificate from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and work permit approval.
