Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes is struggling to find a new spinner for next summer, following Gareth Barry's departure for Surrey.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will do the main job when he arrives for the second half of the 2010 season.

But, apart from Moeen Ali, and the occasional off breaks of skipper Vikram Solanki, Rhodes has no other options.

"There's not many spinners out there. We are trialling a few," Rhodes told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"We are more or less there with the squad. But, if you look at the spin options, you might say there's a bit of a hole."

Rhodes admits that Shakib's arrival for the second half of the season will have more bowling options.

"He is a left-arm spinner, so helps towards the end of the season, when wickets do turn a bit more," he said.

"We might go for the loan system but, early season, it does not turn too much anyway, so it may not be a disaster if we don't have one.

"And it does mean, in the second half of the season, that we could have two spinners batting in the top six, with Moeen and Shakib Al Hasan.

"That means that we can play lots of different options."
