Solanki made his Worcestershire debut in 1993 |
Captain Vikram Solanki has said that Worcestershire have put last season's relegation behind them and are already looking forward to the 2010 campaign. Solanki's side finished bottom of Division One after failing to win a County Championship game all summer. The 33-year-old told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Next season will be a tough challenge and the work starts here. "I am excited by the new additions to the squad. We look ahead, and the preparations start now." Worcestershire began their build-up to the 2010 season on Monday at the new £14m sports centre at Malvern College. | We welcome the new lads and we are excited about the young players involved |
"It is an indication of the way the game has progressed," added Solanki. "Everything now is much more scientific and much more organised." Solanki has seen off-spinner Gareth Batty, wicketkeeper Steven Davies and batsman Stephen Moore leave New Road since the end of last season, but he said that the club will move on without them. "We wish them well, the guys who have moved on," said the England international. "But, we welcome the new lads and we are excited about the young players involved."
