Smith has a top score of 80 in the first team this summer

Worcestershire veteran Ben Smith took advantage of being given second team batting practice at Kidderminster by smashing 158 against Warwickshire.

Smith, without a first-class hundred for three years, hammered 28 fours in his 158, backed by Ian Fisher's 117.

Worcestershire were bowled out for 503, but Warwickshire, 86-6, need another 277 to avoid an innings defeat.

Smith and Fisher are both expected to be back in first team action against Essex in Sunday's Pro40 at Colchester.
