Simon Jones is continuing his comeback in South Africa |
Worcestershire have won one and lost two of their opening three one-day pre-season games in South Africa. Worcs lost to county champions Durham by 150 runs and fell by one wicket to local side The Strikers, but followed up with a 50-run victory over Impala. Daryl Mitchell recorded two 50s, with further runs from Stephen Moore and Vikram Solanki. Amongst the bowlers, Chris Whelan and Mehraj Ahmed have put in good spells and Simon Jones is now running again. He is going through a series of bowling drills off four or five paces. The squad will arrive back in the UK next Monday before their final two pre-season games against Leicestershire and Essex on 8 and 9 April. The season opener is a three day game against Oxford UCCE at the Parks in Oxford starting on 11 April. BBC Hereford and Worcester will again be broadcasting ball-by-ball commentary on all Worcestershire's County Championship and one-day games in 2009.
