Worcestershire's opening batsman Stephen Moore says he has no intention of leaving New Road. Reports had linked Moore, 27, with several other counties, including Derbyshire and Glamorgan, but he insists he is happy where he is. "I haven't been spoken to by anybody and I don't want to leave Worcester," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "I love it here and don't I have any plans to move so I'm not thinking about contracts at the moment." There had been reports earlier in the season that Moore was frustrated by a lack of opportunities in one-day cricket, but he got his chance to prove a point when Gareth Batty picked up a calf injury. | At the moment I just want to take every opportunity I can to play and we'll see how things turn out Worcestershire's Stephen Moore |
Moore responded to the challenge after top-scoring three times during Worcestershire's Twenty20 campaign and winning the man-of-the-match award in the home win over Northamptonshire Steelbacks. The opener says he is focusing solely on the cricket at the moment and all talk of new deals will have to wait until later in the season. "At the moment I just want to take every opportunity I can to play and we'll see how things turn out. "If I can get a chance to play in one-day cricket and take my opportunities while carrying on my good form in the four-day game, then I'm sure the contracts will be spoken about at a later stage," Moore said. Moore became the first English player to reach 500 runs this season and is currently in the top five run scorers in 2008.
