Moore relaxes into Twenty20 role

Worcestershire Royals batsman Stephen Moore has said being relaxed has led to his impressive Twenty20 form.

Moore has top-scored for the Royals in their last three games with innings of 38, 51 and 41, including three sixes in one over against Gloucestershire.

"I feel confident and relaxed at the crease," the 27-year-old told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"If you tense up you are never going to hit the ball and at the moment it's coming out of the middle of the bat.

Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes left Moore out of the early season one-day games but he said he feels he has now found form.

"You could says he's now got his head round one-day cricket.

"Stephen's a big thinker and he will analyse things, he's gone away and worked on his game and we are now seeing the results."

If we can beat Glamorgan in our last game we can carry that momentum into the County Championship and the Pro40

South-African born Moore was the subject of a 28-day approach from Derbyshire but he said he is happy at New Road and feels a move is unlikely.

His three sixes in one over at Gloucestershire came against spinner Ian Fisher, one of which went out of the big Bristol ground.

And Moore said: "They probably made a mistake bowling him [Fisher] from that end and it's all about picking your moments, the wind was behind me so the ball carried well.

"We didn't play well in the middle of the Twenty20 but if we can beat Glamorgan in our last game we can carry that momentum into the County Championship and the Pro40 for the rest of the season."

Worcestershire's last group game in the Twenty20 will be against Glamorgan at New Road on Friday.
