Patel took four wickets in his last Test for New Zealand |
New Zealand off spinner Jeetan Patel has joined Warwickshire as their overseas player for the 2009 season. The 28-year-old will fill the void left by the departure of leg spinner Ian Salisbury to a coaching role with former county Surrey. Patel is expected to be in England in time for the Bears' opening Championship game at Somerset. He has made seven Test appearances for New Zealand, the last coming in last month's draw with India in Napier. Patel was recommended to Warwickshire by their former batsman and current New Zealand coach Andy Moles.
