Westwood made a century against Glamorgan in his first game as skipper |
Warwickshire skipper Ian Westwood has returned home from the club's pre-season tour of South Africa after suffering a wrist injury. Westwood, 26, has seemingly aggravated the wrist he broke last summer and may now require surgery. The Birmingham-born batsman had been a surprise choice as skipper when Darren Maddy decided to step down last summer. The Bears may have to start the season at Taunton next month with all-rounder Ant Botha leading the side. Meanwhile Warwickshire director of cricket Ashley Giles says he is now looking for a spin bowler to serve as the county's overseas player. Giles had originally been targeting a pace bowler, but his plans have been changed by the retirement of former England leg-spinner Ian Salisbury.
