Bond signs for Warwickshire
Shane Bond
Bond has impressed in the black of New Zealand
Shane Bond, the most exciting fast bowler to come out of New Zealand in some time, will play county cricket for Warwickshire next season.

In a three-week period in 2002, when he substituted for Shaun Pollock, Bond took 12 wickets for the Edgbaston-based side.

And chief executive Dennis Amiss hailed the news as a major coup for the club, which won the final installment of the Benson and Hedges Cup last year and came second in the County Championship.

Amiss said: "Shane's decision to commit to Warwickshire next summer is a great boost to the club.

"We will see him playing a vital role in our highly-talented and motivated squad next summer."

Bond, 27, of Christchurch, will not be available from the very start of th 2003 season, however.

After the World Cup, New Zealand tour Sri Lanka in May, and he will not arrive in England until the beginning of June.
