Bond to sub for Warwickshire
Shane Bond of New Zealand
Bond has been in top form in the Caribbean
New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has signed to play for English county Warwickshire in August.

Bond will fill in for South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock between 5-25 August, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Tuesday.

Pollock will be in Morocco for a tri-nations one-day competition involving South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Bond, who is playing on New Zealand's tour of the West Indies, will have a managed workload which will restrict him to bowling a maximum of 20 overs per day.

He will undergo a thorough assessment of his fitness before he is freed to go to Warwickshire - he has only recently recovered from a stress fracture of his right foot.

NZC operations manager John Reid said the decision to loan Bond had been made to help him prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka in September.

The Black Caps' first match in the ICC Champions Trophy is against Australia in Colombo on 15 September.

"This is a knock-out tournament. We must win that first match if we are to progress so we want Shane to be in the best possible condition," Reid added.

"After a four-month injury lay-off he needs to maintain the momentum he has developed during the current tour of the West Indies."

Bond has taken five wickets in each of the first two Test matches against West Indies.

On Monday, he picked up five for 104 on the fourth day of the second test in St George's, Grenada.
