Joyce has scored 10,344 first-class runs at an average of 44.97
Sussex batsman Ed Joyce has agreed a one-year extension to his contract to keep him at Hove until 2013.
The 32-year-old, who is set to represent Ireland at next year's World Cup, scored 590 County Championship runs last season in 15 innings.
Joyce told the club's website: "I'm delighted to have signed an extension to my contract at Sussex.
"Since moving down to the south coast I feel my game has really moved on under the guidance of the coaches here."
The Dublin-born batsman made his international debut for Ireland, as he scored 758 runs in 14 matches between 2001 and 2005.
"I'm chuffed that I've been given the opportunity to be a part of it for at least another three years."
Sussex captain Michael Yardy said: "Ed has been an exceptional signing for the club over the last couple of seasons and securing him to the club for the future is great news for everyone involved with Sussex."
