Sussex played their first match at the Hove County Ground in 1872
Sussex CCC have submitted a revised plan to Brighton and Hove City Council for the development of the County Ground in Hove. The South West Stand capacity has been reduced from 2,400 to 1,700 and includes a new reception and club shop. Sussex chief executive Dave Brooks said: "We have been continuing to challenge our master plan to ensure it remains the most appropriate. "This is a very exciting time and we're most definitely on the right tracks." The Wilbury office block will now remain unaltered rather than be incorporated in to the larger version of the stand. "It became apparent a better solution [of integrating the offices] could be delivered by modifying the planning application granted in late 2009," Brookes said. "Once the building works are completed Sussex CCC will have a genuine claim to having the best county cricket ground in the Country. "It will enable the Club to continue to invest in all levels of cricket within the county to offer the very best opportunity for continued on-field success." Farnrise Construction, the club's sponsors, have been appointed as the main contractor for the second phase of the development.
