Monty Panesar is currently in South Africa playing for Highveld Lions
New Sussex signing Monty Panesar is hoping that his move from Northants can rebuild his confidence and relaunch his England Test career.
"I feel they are a very progressive club," he told BBC Sussex. "They have a reputation of having the family feel.
"But I want to get back in the England one-day team too and playing a key role for Sussex will only help my case."
The left-arm spinner, 27, confirmed his move to the current Twenty20 Cup and Pro40 league champions last week.
Panesar also admits that his former England room-mate, Sussex skipper Mike Yardy, was instrumental in his move to Hove.
"He was really keen to get me in at Sussex," said Panesar. "And also he has a great enthusiasm for the club.
"The role I can play at the club was an important factor as well.
"I've seen people like Ed Joyce settle quickly, and that's another indication that its a good team culture.
"And I'm keen to play my part in developing it further".
Panesar had a poor season at Wantage Road in 2009, losing his England contract and taking just 18 wickets in 13 County Championship matches. And he admits that he has lost his way a bit.
"Sometimes you do get caught a little bit by listening to a lot of people," he admitted. "You end up pleasing everybody and not making strides yourself.
"I want to just bowl all the time, and more importantly find the knack of taking wickets. I want to rediscover that."
