Schofield had hoped to feature for England this summer
Surrey leg-spinner Chris Schofield says he is disappointed that injuries wrecked his bid to play for England in this summer's ICC World Twenty20.
The 30-year-old played in the inaugural competition two years ago but has been plagued by injury over the last year.
Schofield told BBC London 94.9: "It's unfortunate to miss all of last year because the Twenty20 for England would have been a big thing for me.
"My injuries were frustrating because I did bowl well two years ago."
Schofield has now set his sights on helping Surrey in the domestic Twenty20 competition, which begins on Monday against Middlesex at Lord's.
"I've come to the start of the season, been bowling well in all forms of cricket, been given an opportunity as well and I'm injury free at the moment," he said.
"There's a big buzz in the changing room. Everybody is doing their job.
"We were just very unlucky not to progress into the FP Trophy quarter-finals with the mishap up at Durham and then just falling short at Sussex.
"I think we can go into the Twenty20 thinking that we've got a very good opportunity to win this."
