Schofield extends Surrey contract
Chris Schofield
Lancashire released Schofield at the end of the 2004 season
England leg-spinner Chris Schofield has signed a contract that will keep him at Surrey for a further two years.

The 28-year-old moved to the Oval from minor county side Suffolk in 2006 and has been a key player in both the four-day and limited overs formats.

And after a domestic Twenty20 campaign where he took 17 wickets and conceded six runs an over, Schofield was picked for England's World Twenty20 squad.

He said: "I've had a lot of uncertain times but things are back on track."

606: DEBATE

Schofield took 50 wickets for Surrey this season at 25.22 as well as chipping in with 305 runs at an average of 20.33.

And Surrey cricket manager Alan Butcher added: "Chris has fully repaid the gamble we took in offering him a contract last year.

"His performance in 2007 has convinced me that there is yet more to come in the Chris Schofield fairy tale and I am delighted that we have secured his services for a further two years.
