Surrey batsman Jason Roy will spend the winter in Australia developing his game at the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy.
The 18-year-old told BBC London 94.9: "I can't wait, it's a big experience for me but it is really going to be hard work.
"I want to come back a changed guy and work really hard out there on my technique and on myself personally."
Roy was awarded the Easter Group Scholarship in Adelaide during Surrey's recent end-of-season dinner.
The youngster, who leaves on Thursday, added: "Five times a week, during the week there's training, one or two hours a day and Saturday I'll play for a club."
Roy made his debut for Surrey's first team shortly before his 18th birthday in this season's Twenty20 Cup match against Middlesex at the Brit Oval.
The teenager has said breaking into the team happened much quicker than he imagined it would.
"I got thrown in the deep end if anything. It was a great experience being out there with the guys and getting to know a capacity crowd.
"It was phenomenal, I couldn't have asked for anything better half-way through my season."
