Somerset skipper Marcus Trescothick praises Jos Buttler
Buttler made his first class debut for Somerset in September 2009
Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick has hailed the impact of Jos Buttler on the club's one-day success after another impressive batting display.
The 19-year-old smashed 64 runs off 37 balls in the CB40 win over Lancashire to follow up his 55 in 23 balls in the T20 semi-final win on Saturday.
"The one-day format has been a real speciality for him," Trescothick told BBC Radio Bristol.
"And he's continuing to do it which is a big help to us."
Buttler is also an accomplished wicketkeeper and donned the gloves while Craig Kieswetter was away helping England to World T20 success.
Trescothick continued: "What really got him into the side early in the season was the first game against Sussex in this [CB40] competition.
"He got 60 or 70 and at that stage it was the biggest game of the season.
"That's what really impressed me and kept him in the side for the rest of the season."
Despite an emphatic 115-run win over Lancashire the former England opener admitted Saturday's last ball T20 final defeat still hurts.
"We're all still a little bit sore from losing and I think that will stick with us for a while," he said.
"It's not necessarily something you try and prove to come back and win this game but the professionalism has to come through and that's what we've done."
The Taunton side have a 100% record in the CB40 competition after eight games and are sitting firmly on top of Group A.
Should they stay there Somerset will progress into the semi-finals with a Lords final to follow.
Trescothick added: "You've got to finish top of the group and then perform under pressure - that's what it's all about.
"We nearly did it Saturday we just didn't quite do it quite right but we're much better equipped to be under pressure and still produce the goods."
