Justin Langer has set himself high targets for this season - to be the best player in the County Championship, and to captain Somerset to the title.

"I am coming back with the aim of helping Somerset achieve something the club has never done," opening batsman Langer told the Western Daily Press.

The Cidermen won Division Two of the County Championship last season, as well as winning promotion in the Pro40.

"We will be looking to do well in every competition," the Australian added.

"We got such a good thing going last year and while it is important to put last year behind us I am looking forward to seeing all the boys and carrying on from where we left off.

"I am looking forward to helping Somerset to try to achieve what would be a magnificent, unprecedented achievement - to take the team from the bottom of the standings to the top."
