Scotland coach Peter Steindl does not believe the washout against Bangladesh will damage hopes of attracting the top nations for future glamour ties.

The one-day international at Titwood in Glasgow was abandoned after a 1400 BST inspection because of heavy rain.

"Just last month we had a good day out against England; the year before we played against Australia," Steindl told BBC Scotland after Monday's washout.

"These things happen and you've got to hope for the best next time round."

Play had been due to start at 1045 BST, but a midday inspection was delayed until 1400 to give the match at Titwood every chance of being played.

Scotland captain Gordon Drummond told BBC Scotland: "It has rained all morning since we've been here.

"We get a little break now and then, but unfortunately, as soon as that happens, it comes back on torrential."

If play had been possible, it would have been the first official one-day international to be held at Titwood.

Instead, Bangladesh will hope the weather clears in time for them to face the Netherlands at the same venue on Tuesday (1045 BST) in the final game of their tour of the UK.

Gavin Hamilton had been named in the Scotland side for the first time since giving up the captaincy in June.

The Scots were able to call on most of the players who reached the final of the World Cricket League Division 1 tournament last week in the Netherlands.
