Veteran seamer John Blain thinks Scotland can build on their win over Netherlands when they face Kenya in Monday's next World Cup qualifier. The Scots cannot afford any slip-ups despite their 30-run victory. "Yeah, it's obviously a big, big game for us," said Blain. "But we'll go into that game with the same approach. "We prepared well here. The coach has been excellent in terms of the motivation and the research, but it's another game for us and we're ready." Blain claimed five wickets in Saturday's opening Super Eight game, which followed a disappointing group stage. "I think it was a special win," he said. "We hadn't played good cricket coming into the game in the group stage and the fact that we recovered from 50-odd for five to get to over 200 made it all the more special. | We've got some good players in there, but they're just lacking a little bit of confidence Scotland seamer John Blain |
"It's always nice to get wickets up front. I think wickets are important, we got four there and then I came back nicely at the end. So it's a really good way to get us going in this second stage." The win lifted Scotland to fifth in the table in the Super Eight phase of the tournament and another win against the Africans in Krugersdorp would help them take a giant step towards a second consecutive World Cup. Scotland's top order have failed to hit form thus far, but Blain insisted: "That's not a big concern at all. "We've got some good players in there, but they're just lacking a little bit of confidence. "Every sportsman lacks that bit of confidence sometimes. We've got some class players on top of the order. "If you can imagine the top of our order firing and our lower order as it is, we're a pretty strong unit." Blain, who missed Scotland's opening three games through injury, is confident he will now be fit for the remainder of the tournament. "I had a problem with my elbow, but I've had injections and I feel good," he added. "It's not easy in this heat to bat and bowl, but hopefully I'm past that now."
