Peter Drinnen has been named as the new Scotland cricket coach, following the surprise departure of Andy Moles. Drinnen, 38, is a former wicket-keeper for Queensland and moved from the post of Cricket Scotland technical director.
"What all this is about is the continued development of Scotland's playing talent," said Drinnen, heading to the Under-19 World Cup on Monday.
"I feel honoured to be asked to coach the national squad in such an important time for the game in Scotland."
Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith said: "No-one has more thorough knowledge of our players than Peter.
"We believe he has the qualifications, the skills, commitment and the relevant experience."
Moles left his post on 14 January, just months after agreeing a new two-year contract as national coach.
The former Warwickshire batsman guided Scotland to victory in the ICC Trophy in July, securing a place at the 2007 World Cup.
