Moles guided Scotland to victory in the ICC Trophy in July |
Andy Moles resigned from his position as Scotland's national cricket coach, on 14 January, just months after agreeing a new two-year contract. The former Warwickshire batsman has decided to return to South Africa, where his family are resident.
Moles guided Scotland to victory in the ICC Trophy in July, securing a place at the 2007 World Cup.
Roddy Smith, chief executive of Cricket Scotland, said: "We would like to thank Andy for all his efforts."
Former Kenya coach Moles failed to land the job of Director of Coaching with Warwickshire in September, after being short-listed.
And recent reports hinted at an uneasy relationship between Moles and some senior Scotland players.
"He (Moles) was brought to Scotland to help us to qualify for the World Cup, and he achieved this single purpose in great style," added Smith.
"This was Scotland's biggest achievement on the world cricket stage to date, and Andy can take considerable credit for his role in that success."
