Mullaney was man of the match in the FP t20 quarter-final win over Sussex

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell says all-rounder Steven Mullaney is facing a battle to be fit for FP t20 Finals Day later this month.

Mullaney missed the Championship defeat to Somerset with an ankle injury and looks set to miss at least two weeks.

Newell is hopeful Mullaney will recover but the ex-Lancashire man will not play any four-day cricket in the meantime.

"He will be touch and go for finals day and obviously that's a pretty key day," Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham.
