Hussey enjoyed a prolific five-week stint this summer with Notts

Australia batsman David Hussey has agreed to return to Nottinghamshire for the 2010 county season.

The 32-year-old first joined the Trent Bridge side in 2004, spending four seasons with the county.

Hussey will miss the start of the 2010 season to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

"He was our number one target and he is always keen to play for us when his commitments allow," said Notts director of cricket Mick Newell.

The aggressive right-hander, currently playing for Victoria Bushrangers in the Twenty20 Champions League in India, has made 23 one-day appearances for Australia, along with 11 Twenty20 international caps.

"Nottingham is like a second home to me and I'm thrilled to be invited back again," he said.

"Fortunately, I should be available for most of the season this year and I'm looking forward to seeing what changes have been put in place. I just hope that it will be a hugely successful one for us."

With Hussey set to miss the start of next season, Nottinghamshire could move for compatriot Adam Voges to provide cover for the county championship and Twenty20 competitions.

"Adam is keen on playing county cricket next summer so a shorter spell with us may be a good fit but we need to have further discussions because he may choose to spend a full season elsewhere," added Newell.
